One of the keys to a healthy lifestyle is healthy eating. I have tried and failed at so many diets. What I needed, and what I hope to show to you, is not a diet but a plan. A plan for healthy eating. A plan for healthy weight. A plan for a healthy life.

As Take Shape For Life Certified Health Coaches my husband David and I have been priviliged to help so many people begin taking the right steps to enjoying a healthy lifestyle. Please join us in our journey...

Is your motivation:

A class reunion

Eating Out

I bet you did not know that you eat 35 percent more when eating out than when eating at home. Here are a few tips when eating out:

1. Ask for salad dressings and dipping sauces to be put on the side.

2. Ask your server not to bring bread, rolls or chips out.    Just 1 little roll can have more than a 100 calories.

3. Instead of fries, rice, pasta or bake potatoes order steamed vegetables.

4. Order water with lemons instead of soda, beer, wine or a mixed drink which is full of empty calories.

5. And please do not order dessert. Just save your money and calories.

Have a blessed and healthy week! It is much more fun to live healthy than bloated and over weight.

Look to God

Look to God for comfort and not food! Guess what you will be a lot healthier.

I hope everyone has been staying healthy and have already kicked 2012 off to a good start. I took some time off to enjoy my sons last few months of high school. For all you mothers out there with seniors in high school I think maybe we need a support group. It is a wonderful time but this new chapter  is also a difficult.

Have a blessed and healthy day.

Change an Unhealthy Eating Habit

Ever wonder why we eat all the wrong foods? When we understand why we do something it is easier to break a bad habit and
replace it with a healthy habit. Some unhealthy eating habits are psychological as well as biological. Here are some
reason you might have for unhealthy eating:

A merry go round of cravings. Eating one sugar snack gives you a sugar rush followed my a sugar crash. Eating one piece of
chocolate pie will make you feel good for several hours but to keep that high you will have to eat some more sugar. So it is just
one big cycle.

A bad habit. The comfort foods we were raised on.

Convenience is a biggie. It is so easy and convenient to drive through or order to go.

Stress. We live in a high stress pressure cooker society which kicks in our emotional eating.

Pin point your triggers and change 1 unhealthy habit for 1 healthy habit per week.

Sugary Drinks

Just FYI!  Did you know that sugary beverages are most consumed beverage in American diets.

“Sugary beverages are also the number-one sale items in terms of dollars in grocery stores.” (Nutrition Action Healthletter Oct. 2011 pg. 4).
So put your money back in your pocket and drink water.
Sugary drinks are bad and can cause: diabetes, weight gain, gout, heart disease, and dental problem.
It is never to late to make a healthy change in your diet, so for this month try to replace  sugary drinks with water
